Cheap Flights To Manila Philippines Why Finding One Is Well Worth Your Time And Effort

Philippines is a nice distinctive place to visit. With its tropical weather and excellent varieties of beaches and resorts, anyone would easily fall in love with this wonderful country located in the south eastern part of Asia.

My experience of stay in the Philippines makes me want to plan an immediate return for another vacation. If you are thinking of traveling to the Philippines, you should definitely be a little familiar with its main city capital called Manila. This is where you will most likely plan your flight arrival destination to end up at.

Finding cheap flights to Manila is not that easy, you need to do researching as well as planning ahead of time. Flights to other local airport destinations may not be cheaper since manila is the main capital of the country. So, almost all international flights are routed thru the citys Ninoy Aquino International Airport, thus, more scheduled flights and much lesser expenses for airline companies.

However, Cebu Mactan International Airport has been gaining international flights already. At the time of this writing, they have 6 regular direct international flights. Taipei is the most recently added trip to their list of scheduled flights, and is scheduled for at least twice a week. It maybe a little expensive compared to a Manila flight, but if you intend to go anywhere near Cebu area like Bohol or somewhere around the Visayas region, then it would be a fairly good option to take advantage at. Another international Airport would be in Davao which has 3 international daily scheduled flights, to Singapore, to Koror Palau, and to Manado Indonesia.

Airfares are usually the most expensive part of a vacation trip, next to it would be hotel accommodations, this is why most of those who plan to visit the Philippines would surely want to go after those cheap flights to Manila. Nevertheless, once you arrive in the country, most of the things you will find there have adequately cheap prices, like food, transportation, souvenir items, clothing stuffs, and other accessories you may want to buy, way much cheaper compared to buying the same things from other countries.

Further more tips in finding cheap flights to Manila would be:

Asking for quotations from travel agencies
Surfing the internet to compare and get the best rates out there
If you are from USA, then there are lots of Filipino agents selling cheap airfares to Manila, do try asking for them around your neighborhood
Planning ahead on specific dates will give you bigger savings
Most airlines offer huge discounts if booked earlier, but you must be sure about the schedule of your flight, otherwise you may end up getting charged for more should you request to cancel or change your flight schedule later on
Some companies give discounts if you pay them via credit card, you should take advantage of such offer
Other companies even accept travel mileage points to cover for your airfare

Guide to different types of pet identification

As any parent can tell you, having a child identification kit assembled is a necessity in the event the unthinkable happens and a child goes missing. There are many resources available to parents, including the local police department, where actual kits are available to gather the important information you need to aid search efforts.

However, what if your children aren’t human at all but are still as much a part of your family as a son or daughter? Pet owners, especially of dogs and cats, stand a greater risk of loss should a pet run away from home by escaping through a door or under a fence. Pet owners can be just as devastated at losing a beloved animal as they would a human counterpart and in times of emergency, it can be difficult to stay mentally on task in order to help find a missing pet.

By establishing a pet identification kit that can be turned over to the local police or ASPCA, you can act fast and get out the vital information that you need to deliver in order to recover your pet. It doesn’t have to be an expensive kit. Just use a large manila envelope and keep the following items up to date:

A Clear Photo of Your Pet

It can be surprising to realize the number of times the owner of a lost animal can not easily locate a good picture of their pet. Take updated shots of your pet every few months, especially if it is still growing so you will have something to add to flyers and allow the public to help in your search. Blurry photos or ones that make it difficult to identify your pet will not be very useful.

A List of Vitals

You will want to make sure you can provide exact descriptions of your pets such as eye color, coat color, markings, and weight. If you pet has a microchip, keep information that pertains to the chip on hand for easier identification.

Copies of Medical History and Vaccinations

You will want to have these on hand to prove that your animal is up to date all on shots and exams in the event the dog is turned over to the pound. There is also the possibility that a dog on the loose can become frightened and end up biting its rescuer. You will want to be sure you can prove rabies in not a factor so your dog will not be turned over to authorities. Keep all copies of prescription and medical records current for each exam or treatment.

Registration Papers

If you have any information pertaining to local registration information such as tag number, keep them in your file. If you have any information or paperwork regarding your animal’s purebred status, this also may come in handy.

This information should be stored in safe but accessible place at home. If you put it away in a safety deposit box and your dog runs away on a Saturday evening, you will not have access to it until the following Monday during business hours. Also remember, if you are traveling with your pet, bring a copy of the entire file with you in case of an emergency. It is best to leave the original set at home where it is safe, as traveling can leave you absent-minded.<->

The More You Sew The More You Collect

Don’t we collect a lot? The more you sew, the more you collect.

There are the threads, before we go any further, while we are on about threads, don’t be tempted to buy up cheap threads when they are on special. No use sewing with good fabric and using cheap sewing thread, it has a habit of fuzzing and breaking when you don’t want it to.

For storing anything to do with your sewing, you need to be able to see what you are looking for. So containers that are clear and zip lock plastic lunch bags can get you organised very quickly.

The zip lock bags come in various sizes and you can also get the ‘throwaway’ storage containers in various sizes too. Check out the lunch bag aisle in your supermarket.

You can get storage drawers, the small kind, Ikea have some great ones that I use. I set up some ‘temporary’ shelves with these and they worked so well, they have stayed and I have added to them, one at each end, a shelf resting on them, then another two and another shelf. Work your way up until you have the storage you need.

The small drawers are ideal for storing all sorts of bits and pieces and there is room on the shelves to fit heaps of other items you want to store. If you’re artistic, you can paint on front of each draw what is stored inside, or make up labels.

Don’t throw away herb and spice jars when you have used the herbs, these are ideal for storing buttons, and other types of fasteners.

A cork notice board or pegboard is very handy too. I use both.

If you happen across an office filing cabinet, these are great for storing patterns and fabrics.

We all have those left over fabric pieces, keep similar color tones together in clear plastic zip lock bags, the large ones. You will be surprised at how creative you will become when you see the tonings and prints together.

Patterns are best transferred to plastic sleeves and placed in manila folders with the pattern envelope pasted to the front of the folder. paste it sideways so you can easily see what pattern as you go through the file. Don’t forget to include in the plastic sleeve, what you made and the details, any alterations to the pattern etc. This is great for children’s sewing, especially if you want to use the same pattern for a younger child.

With all your sewing, if you can find a way to keep your various colors together, it will be much easier to find what you want.

The more organized you become with your sewing, the more you will enjoy your sewing and by being organized you could even save money, being able to find sewing notions easily will save you buying unnecessary items.

The main thing is to enjoy what you are doing.

Travel destinations: The Philippines – Part 1

Dubbed as the “Pearl of the Orient”, the Philippines simply means nothing to a lot of foreigners until they set their feet on a land that comprises more than 7,000 beautiful islands, populated by friendly and hospitable people.

Destination guides may not be enough to describe the many things that tourists could discover when they land on the country that is awash with rich history and bucolic countrysides that remain to be explored. Indeed, the Philippines is an ideal destination, where your stay will be livable and free.

Occupied more than 400 years by Spain, the Philippines remains a serendipity to many people. Its capital, Manila, doesn’t only evoke of charm and warmth but also of beautiful hotels and restaurants where accommodation and food are exceptional to the discriminating tastes.

But if you want to discover more about the Philippines, the best way to explore are the countryside. You can go to Palawan, called the last frontier, which still remains an environmentally safe destination where peace and tranquility exist. The white pristine and unspoiled beaches are more than enough to make you think life is wonderful. In the Visayas, there is a lot to be discovered, but Boracay is the most internationally known destination for young and old foreigners alike. Some have stayed while others simply keep coming back.

Getting around the country is not a problem at all. There is a lot of transportation services that can be had. Various airlines service most major cities from Manila. In Central Visayas, Cebu City has an international airport that accommodates international carriers. From there, you can hop to Mindanao via the ships and ferries available at the city pier.

For those who hanker to see the north, you can just pick the right bus ride to Luzon. Baguio City, the summer capital of the Philippines, was founded by the Americans during the liberation period, after defeating the Japanese forces in the second world war. And there is much more to see.

The best time to visit the Philippines is between December to May every year, where you can feel the real meaning of summer. Come aboard!

Local Government: Bad political behavior

Wrong Priorities

The United States is spending 10 Billion a month (so I read) in Iraq, trying to do something we can not do; wasting time and money. What about the Philippines?

Even tho our military was asked to leave the Philippines many years ago, there were also a lot that didn’t want to see us go. It didn’t help the economy any.

When I was in Manila almost two years ago, we woke up one morning to realize Ms. Arroyo had called out the military; Apparently afraid someone was after her. People were unhappy with her and the economic situation; the graft and the political strife. One look at the way the people are having to live explains why. Some are living extremely well, while the good, common Filipino is doing without; some starving, and begging in the streets.

We were staying at the Boulevard Mansion Hotel, about 8 blocks from the American Embassy, and the Embassy sent word over for all Americans to stay inside; to avoid crowds and such.

From the hotel, we could see the demonstrations in the streets and near the American Embassy. What amused me was half the signs were saying: ” George Bush..Go Home!” Later I read that Mr. Bush and Gloria Arroyo were close friends (don’t say much for either) and he seems to have a lot of influence on her.

The Philippine people were our allies for many years and yet US Politicians seems to have turned their backs on them for the sake of more “Lucrative” allies. The Philippines has better quality products than China, yet we buy junk from China, while the average Philippine citizen starves.

But the US has a long history (the Politicians) of turning their backs when it is profitable to do so. Now, you know why we have so many enemies. Our politics have created them.

Prescription For Melancholy

THEY say that the white sands of Boracay are as fine as the men who ride their bikes on the beach at sunset.

What they did not tell me about was that the women were equally toned, tanned and able to down 13 tequilas in quick succession.

Boracay’s story started when German backpackers, in their quest for the elusive puka shells, discovered this wide and endless stretch of beach. An answer to a white man’s dream – paradise discovered.

So, for the next few years a succession of Germans pitched their tents, downed gallons of tuba (coconut wine), and snorkeled in the clear blue waters around the island.

The locals did not mind. In fact, they preferred the Kano (Caucasians) over the Manila elite (who thought their secret hideaway was still undiscovered) since the Kano’s did not look for tony accommodations, were comfortable in barely laundered clothes and ate everything they offered.

But word got out. Pretty soon, Lonely Planet’s Jens Peters found his way there, and when Boracay got listed in the backpacking bible, Europeans arrived in droves.

For the coconut farming and fishing community, life was forever changed.

Today, the island is marketed all over the world as a hedonistic paradise. Foreign and domestic tourists either arrive alone, or in threes. The better to strike up conversations with strangers.

Honeymooners mostly head for the south where cliffs hide villas from prying eyes and the sea is just a few steps away.

Although there are 10 beaches, the main stretch is 3.6km long and called White Beach. It is here where all the action happens.

Boracay is a tourist trap and White Beach the quintessential tourist “street.” Instead of ostentatious buildings lit up by neon, you see establishments in bamboo chic. Eat-all-you-can restos stand tongue-in-cheek with souvenir shops where artsy types holler their wares.

In Boracay, breakfast is at 5 p.m., just in time for the dazzling sunset that has found its way to countless travel brochures.

Parties begin at 11 p.m., and this is what tourists come for.

Dental Implant: the Future of Dentistry

December 5, 2009 by LostinManila

It’s easy to understand why dental implants have become very popular these days. Implant dentistry is highly predictable, offers greater flexibility with regards to treatment possibilities, and can give patients fully functional teeth in as short as an hour with minimum discomfort and pain using a local anesthetic with or without sedation.

With today’s technology, dental implants can replace a single tooth or the entire upper or lower teeth. They also help support dentures, making them more secure and comfortable. This makes them an ideal option for people who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason.

In the Philippines, oral implants were first popularized by Dr. Joseph D. Lim, a diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and former president of the Asian Oral Implant Academy. At his clinic at Suite 202 of the Jollibee Center Building along San Miguel Avenue in Pasig City, Manila, Lim explained that people with dental implants have many reasons to smile. First is because dental implants look, feel, and function just like natural teeth. Lim said they stop the jawbone from shrinking and eliminate the need to modify healthy teeth.

Unlike traditional dentures and bridgework that rely on neighboring teeth for support, Lim said dental implants integrate with the bone and healthy teeth don’t have to be destroyed to accommodate them. This results in an improved appearance, a more natural smile, and greater self-confidence. Since they are anchored securely to your jawbone, Lim said dental implants also improve your appetite. They allow you to eat your favorite foods with comfort and confidence.

Just about anyone with missing teeth can get a dental implant provided he or she is in good health and has enough jawbone for the implant. But the latter shouldn’t be a problem nowadays since manufacturers have come up with new implant designs that match a person’s bone structure.

What Lim is more concerned about is the misuse of dental implants by some dentists who are pretending to be experts. Lim warned that not all dentists can perform implant surgery which has its own share of risks that’s why it’s important to check the person’s credentials. American Health magazine said that 90 percent of dentists who call themselves “implantologists” have attended only short weekend courses which are barely enough to make them experts. To protect yourself from these “pseudo-implantologists,” get to know the dentist’s background and training and don’t be ashamed to ask.

For toothless people who want to eat, speak, talk, and live normally, Lim said dental implants are the answer. As the technology grows and becomes more affordable, Lim is confident it’s only a matter of time before we see an end to the suffering caused by tooth decay.

“Oral implants are the future of dentistry. In fact, it is the only branch of dentistry that can replace missing teeth. As the human lifespan increases, so will the need for dental implants. Despite advances in oral health, tooth decay continues to be a major problem and the number of toothless people is expected to grow. With dental implants, these people can live normally and comfortably. They’re the next best thing to real teeth,” Lim concluded.

Missing or bad teeth can affect your appearance and make you look old and ugly. Having fine lines and wrinkles can make matters worse. If you don’t want to take chances with Botox because of its possible side effects, switch to the Rejuvinol AM/PM Botox Alternative Age-Defying System. When Your Lover Comes Over From The Uk To Visit You For The First Time It Can Be A Nightmare Knowing

December 3, 2009 by LostinManila

When your lover comes over from Britain to visit you for the first time, it can be a nightmare knowing what to do in specific situations. So I have put together 4 tips on what to do.

1. Be prepared – create a plan for the complete holiday. Discuss with your fiancee the locations you wanted to show him. In my part I looked for the hotel myself and made the reservation. You will not need to pay in advance, just give them your fiancees name, dates and what type of room you sought to reserve. If its in Manila I prefer to stopover in Makati so that its nearer to the major shopping mall, such as Ayala Centre, and additionally not too far from the airport. Even he can make his reservation online but you can not always rely on what it shows in on web. Of course you know your country more than he will, so you can always provide your suggestions. During my boyfriend`s initial visit here, I took him to the Baguio City,The Pagsanjan Falls and Rizal House in Laguna and of course we stay most of the time here in my hometown, Manila. We spent the first and the remaining two days here in Manila so that we have time to be with my family and make sure that he will not miss his flight.

2. Be considerate – How many hours will you going to spend with him or will you be there with him all through the entire holiday? Make certain that you are free in the course of his visit. How would you visualize yourself in the air over 12 hours or more and just discover that the person you want to see or be with is having other commitments or have other appointment? Be considerate, your man has clearly been on a long journey and spent a lot to come to see you, consequently your job is to give him your quality time and make his holiday the most memorable one. Decide how much time you require to remain in the hotel, I mean your fiancee of course will be extremely excited to see more of the country and not just stay inside the hotel all day, except when the weather is awful but at least you must have another choice ready in case there is a typhoon and you cant go somewhere. When it is raining hard or storm it is best go to the Bowling Alley in SM Malls.

3. Be resourceful – Have a plan where to go, which place you are going to show him, ask him his interests, historical, entertainment, nature and etc. Remember to find a map or travel guide, you can purchase one from the National bookstore. Educate yourself about the main tourist attractions of the Philippines so that you do not look like a stranger in your own country. Last July, we went to the surfing area in La Union, The Heritage Village in Vigan Ilocos Sur, Cebu City and a couple of the days in Manila. We did it all in exactly 8 days. It was strenuous but we had a fantastic time together. By the way, if you would like adventures I suggest you go to The Pagsanjan Falls. It costs around 5000 pesos to rent the craft. Two boatmen will push you through the raging river to the waterfalls. It was fantastic and great joy.

4. Be friendly – It is very important to know his food preference so that you will have your research which restaurant to go to. Inquire his favourite foods, if he likes highly spiced, sweets and etc. If he wants to taste our pinoy specialty foods, you had best proceed to the Buffet Dinner in Glorietta Mall, its a restaurant that serves western, Japanese and Filipino buffet dinner which cost nearly 500 pesos per person, or go to Barrio Fiesta Restaurants and benefit from the Filipino folk songs with the singing cooks and waitress. Unless you just wanted to feed him hamburgers and fried chicken every day, no problem just go to Mc Donalds or Jollibee which I do not recommend because for me I rather let him eat our own distinctive dishes, such as sinigang, kare kare, adobo, lechon, etc. But take into account, he is your guest do not make him to eat the food he does not want to eat. Ive heard that a large amount westerner prefers to have fish fillet than fish with the head remaining on it. Some think that Krispy pata is disgusting, and also the dried fish and shrimp paste. In Baguio City we like to dine in The Sizzling Restaurant alongside the Session Road, they serve Sizzling Boneless Bangus.

I trust you have found these tips informative, and wish you luck in your future relationship.

Tears of a forlorn giant who grieved for a lost love, thus the myth says about the origin of the Hundred Islands. Yet, no tears are shed as you look from afar at the islands proudly sprouting at the gleaming waters of the sea. With 123 islands scattered amidst the clear cerulean waters, you cannot help but marvel at one of natures’s best creations.

Located at the heart of Alaminos City, Pangasinan in the Philippines, is just a four-hour trip from manila, the capital of the Philippines.

Aside from the panoramic view and postcard-worthy scenery, the Hundred Islands promises an adventure far more exciting and thrilling that the mind could imagine.

From Lucap Wharf, take a motorboat ride and go island hopping and explore the wonders that each island has to offer. Inclusive of island tours, rental rates (depending on boat size) range from $15-$20 for day tours and $30-$40 dollars for overnight tours.

Stop by Quezon Island and enjoy Alaminos’ own version of white sand beaches. Have fun riding the banana boat and the jet ski. Kayak around the island and see the rock formations finely sculptured by nature. Be amazed at the coral reefs and the clams with shells extending up to a meter, as you snorkel in the Coral Garden and Giant Clam Garden, just a few meters away from the island.

For the daring and the bold, try parasailing and hang 600 feet above sea level. If flying is not your thing, go spelunking and see the hidden wonders of the caves or cross one island to the other using ropes through the Tyrolean traverse.

Be part of the phenomenon and pay a visit to the Big Brother House (Philippines version of Big Brother US) at the Governor’s Island at $200 dollars per day. Hike to the view deck and enjoy the breathtaking scenery overlooking nearby islands.

For parents wary of leaving their kids alone, the aptly named Childrens’s Island is the place to visit. Shallow waters surrounding the island create nature’s own kiddie pool where kids could literally walk to the island across.

Ferry back to the island and try the sumptuous meals served at the D’ Island Grille and cap the day off with a goodnight’s rest at one of the luxurious rooms at the Vista de las Resort Hotel ($40-$45 per room)

Indeed, a trip to the islands is a welcome respite from the frenzied atmosphere of the urbanity and leaves one with a sense of fulfillment- that of witnesseng nature’s grandeur acompanied by the efforts of the people protecting it’s beauty.

The Hundred Islands weaves its own magic that gives visitors an exciting mix of experiences that is truly worth remembering.
